Blessed be the LORD: Adam Guillory

Bless the LORD, the God of Israel!

As of writing this, I just want to say, God has blessed me and filled me full of joy, so praise Him!

If I were to give a summary of this year so far, I would simply say it’s been buck wild. We’ve had a lot of lows. Even last week, I personally hit some low points and got really angry for no good reason. Personally, I have been selfish in my giving and have hid behind excuses like, “Oh,  school’s so hard,” and, “Why aren’t other people doing more?” and this and that. In short, I was whining a lot.

But I come to you with good news! God loves me anyway!

He loves me while I whine, He loves me while I bicker, He loves me while I judge, and while I hate, and I know this because Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that is so amazing!

Bless the LORD, for He is good, and He is faithful!

He answers prayers before we even pray them. He answered my family’s prayers for my grandparents’ health. He answered our prayers for my sister to have a healthy baby. He has answered my prayers to do well in school (despite my best efforts to be lazy). He has answered  our prayers for more women to come to The Wesley and be in leadership roles. He has answered the prayers of our worship team, and He has answered our prayers for financial support.

God truly is a God of marvelous works!

The community of Christians at The Wesley lives out of the palm of God’s hand, and we rejoice! For He has given us the Spirit and power to love those who hate us! Praise the LORD, O my soul! I cannot say enough how God loves us, and how He loves you! He gives us the strength and the courage to walk through hardship. He gives us the patience and the humility to love each other, even when we are being ceaseless jerks to one another. He teaches us how to serve people and gives us everything we need.

God lets us love Him, and for that, we should praise Him forever!

Now, as we prepare ourselves to embark on yet another adventure for this summer’s mission trip, I simply cannot wait. I can’t wait for the over 12 hour drives, the sleeping on the ground, the bickering amongst ourselves like children. Because we are children! And everything we face can and will point us closer to His Holy Face. I am excited for the struggles next quarter will reveal to me. The challenges, the ups, the downs. I am excited for God to show me His Will. I am excited to be told I overreacted to things. I am excited to pray. I am excited in all ways to be pointed in the direction of God!

God has made so many good things in this world. Behold! Marvel at all creation!

The place I am most excited to meet God is in the presence of other people. From Peri, a freshman here exclaiming,  “I love God!” to Phil, the associate director, breaking out into a sermon because of his newfound zeal for prayer. I cannot help but go forth and sing joyful songs to the LORD! The LORD is good, and He is in our midst! Remember Him and find joy!

Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD God almighty!

I pray that as this post finds you that you can also rejoice with all the company of the saints, and all those here at The Wesley. I pray that you marvel at God’s gifts to you and stand in awe at His love for His creation. I pray in the hope that you remember His death in solemn adoration and His resurrection in glorious celebration. I pray you have fun and worship God, carrying out the joyful task which you were made for!
