The Moth: Victoria Morey
Victoria Morey is a beloved member of the Wesley Foundation. She joined us early this school year and immediately jumped at any chance to be a part of community events. She has grown so much in such a short time, being faithful to the calling that God has had in her life. Tori is a studio art major, and she shares herself in her work, painting or writing. Tori always has the best stories and is honest about who she is. She wrote a poem for us this week. She said this about it:
It's about my journey with God and the struggles I've gone through to get to where I am. It seemed like I would never be where I wanted to be because I didn't trust or believe in God. As soon as I started believing and realizing it was okay that other people couldn't see the progress of my faith, I felt better. I didn't feel like I was pretending to be a Christian anymore and now have hope for the future. I wonder if anyone can see my progress still but know that it shouldn't matter.
“The Moth”
As he split open his cocoon
He struggled to get out
His new form unfamiliar
He could not reach the spout
Of water that ran down a leaf
He struggled and struggled so far
But then he made progress
That no one could see
And finally that moth
Once a crumpling Caterpillar
Reaching for water
And for life
Now can fly through the open sky
But only once he splits open his cocoon
And finds his form familiar again
Will anyone including him
See his accomplishments in God's light
